Here we go again!!

....on another boat/biking adventure in Europe.  This time round we start in Croatia and will sail and bike through 5 Dalmatian Islands as well as explore Split and the Centina Canyon.  We will be boarded on a wooden sailing yacht called the Kapetan Jure. We then move on to Germany and travel along the Danube from Passau to Budapest, cycling through Vienna and Bratislava on the way.  We will be sailing on a much larger boat here -- the MS My Story.

We have been thinking about and planning this trip for quite some time now and, for a while, it seemed we may not get to go.  Lois' knee has been quite bad from arthritis which required referral to an orthopedic surgeon who performed a couple of knee aspirations (fluid draining) plus cortisone injections.  The second of these treatments has been pretty successful in reducing the swelling and knee pain ..... so, call us crazy, but all systems are "go" for this trip.  We kind of figure this may be our last "active" trip to Europe - although we always know we can go back there to a more relaxing pace (think Portugal in the winter!!).

So, come September 11 we fly to Split in Croatia (via Vancouver-Frankfurt-Munich).  We will stay in Trogir (where we board the sailing vessel on September 15).  Following the cycling tour we will travel to Dubrovnik for 5 days of sightseeing.

Then it is back to Munich and on to Passau for the second leg of our cycling tour.  When that week is complete we will be travelling by rental car to the Black Forest area where we have rented a self-catering apartment on a German farm near Gengenbach.

We hope you will be following along during our travels as we post our activities and photos.  We are excited to actually be going on this trip when it looked for a time like it might not happen for us.

Stay tuned!
